The UK-Turkey Health Forum organised by the UK Department for International Trade and the UK Embassy in cooperation with the Turkish Republic Ministry of Health in Istanbul brought together professionals from the two country’s medical industry in Istanbul on 2-3 December 2021.
During the 2-day event, 50 UK companies and Turkish counterparts held a total of nearly 250 one-on-one meetings to explore the potential for commercial cooperation. 170 of these meetings involved companies invited as a result of a detailed potential parter search conducted by the BCCT Business Services Team.
Delegates from Turkish hospital group companies, well-known health insurance firms and official institutions, companies from various aspects of the medical sector such as genetics, medical devices, and digital health were present at these talks .
Companies from the UK included medical device and equipment firms, digital health, software companies, firms providing hospital and patient security services, genetics and genomics companies, as well as companies that offer diagnostic, clinical research and data solutions or software, and health tourism companies.
While some of these companies were looking for suitable distributors in the Turkish market, some of them were looking for joint business development opportunities with companies and institutions conducting research in the field of genetics and genomics. In addition to firms that sought to promote their products and services, companies seeking production-focused cooperation with pharmaceutical manufacturers were among those that reported very productive meetings.
During the event, organisers and stakeholders expressed their wishes for the continuation of the existing cooperation between UK and Turkish companies across various sectors, and for a further expansion of this cooperation in the health sector as well.
